Recently I have started to become addicted to Netflix. Well, it wasn’t me in the first place – but some of my friends who enjoy certain drama series and movies on the Internet. And one day they suggested, “hey let’s join a 4-person plan, you are going to love it.” With a 20-something-dollar fee per month and a one-month free trial, who would say no to such an offer? Well, at least not me and that’s why I’m here. LOL

So they made an account, threw me the login name and password over Snapchat, and suddenly life wasn’t right without Netflix. I remember the first movie I watched on this gigantic streaming platform - The Strangers: Prey At Night, a horror re-make of the 2010 version. And I struggled to finish it because it was BORING. And I thought to myself “It would’ve been such a waste of money if I had gone to the cinema for this not-so-horrific typical-serial-killer thriller.” Then I realized I was on Netflix, and it would only take me $20 every month to watch every single TV series and movie online. So seeing that thriller did me little harm, as I got to watch many acclaimed and appreciated movies thereafter.

(You can preview the movie here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91-Z20uttEk)

Starting from that moment, everything got out of control, like a holiday was spent: 1) lying in bed 2) phone or I-pad in hand 3) Netflix – by a holiday I mean the entire Winter or Lunar New Year vacation. Endless loops of entertaining drama series and movies were giving me life. According to one of my friends, on the day after her last exam, she spent a jaw-dropping total of 11 hours merely on Netflix, going through tons of comedies and tech series like lightning. And I started to wonder if I was going overboard as well, I mean, hours per day on Netflix should not be something to be boastful about. So I checked on the Internet, and SERIOUSLY?! Netflix Addiction is actually a technical term! I went on to check its definition: 1) hours spent on the streaming system a day 2) feel anxious if connection to the platform is rejected 3) start to search “Netflix Addiction” online (particularly on Google). Well, I think I’m addicted.

Now in front of my Netflix laptop, I just can’t explain this feeling. It’s like you know you’re doing something wrong but you just can’t get past it. So I make a plan: If my homework is all done, go on Netflix; if my revision is all done, go on Netflix. So it is all about self-discipline. Well… there is one more method actually – which is to say “No, I am out” after the free trial – which may get me killed and you won’t see a part 2 then.

Make sure to follow me on this page for more interesting reads. Next time I will recommend you some of the best series I’ve come across on the platform, stay tuned! XX See ya!
